  The interior and exterior furniture and design sector is dominated by products made with poor quality materials, in particular the so-called "fake stones" from China. These are composite materials made by mixing marble or granite powders with polyester resins that imitate natural stone. These products have very low costs but poor quality, and cannot compare to the artisanal marble and granite artifacts made in Italy. Chinese fake stones may look attractive at first glance, but upon close observation the differences compared to natural materials are immediately noticeable . The coloration is artificial and appears as a uniform "carpet" without the characteristic veins and variegations of natural stone.
